Introducing the Debut of Robert Best’s All-New Barbie® Pink Collection™!

By Allen Voivod

We may be in the colder months of the year, but our thoughts are already turning to spring – namely, the Spring 2021 line of Barbie® Signature dolls. And we can’t tell you how excited we are about the arrival of this particular doll, as it also signals the start of the brand-new Barbie® Pink Collection™!

Collectors around the world have been wondering what Robert Best would do after the completion of his Barbie® Fashion Model Collection run in 2020. To be fair, the Senior Director of Barbie® Design did much more with Barbie® than just the creation of the BMFC® for the past 20 years! But once that seminal haute couture line concluded, fans have been fascinated about the possibilities for what could come next.

Well, one of the answers has arrived, in the form of the Barbie® Pink Collection™, a bold celebration of the global icon and a tribute to her signature color. Classic Barbie® glamour meets on-trend style in this collection, and the first doll in the series sets the tone with a breathtaking fashion debut.

Barbie® doll wears an off-the-shoulder high-low gown with bow accents. Ruffled layers of cascading tulle flow into a dramatic train that makes a stunning 360-degree statement. Bow-kissed sandals, elegant drop earrings, and a glam high ponytail complete Barbie® doll’s striking silhouette.

This first Barbie® Pink Collection™ Doll uses the posable Silkstone® body and the ModelMuse™ sculpt. She comes with a doll stand for endless display possibilities, inside premium packaging that also features a sketch of the doll by the designer on the box. She’s part of our Gold Label® series of dolls and will retail for $100 in the online shop. When she debuts, Platinum and Gold members will get first access. There will be a limit of three (3) dolls per person, so as many Barbie® and Robert Best fans as possible can add her to their collections. (This limit is subject to change at a later date.)

Can you imagine having purchased the very first doll in the Barbie® Fashion Model Collection? We don’t know how things will unfold with the Pink Collection™, but one thing’s for sure: Robert Best has created a fabulous first for it. Get her in the online shop now!

Me too! I think she is pretty.  I know some don't like her. I wasn't too sure at first but changed my mind.  It will be interesting to see what people say once they actually receive her. 😜

In still watching my email “to be among the first to know when she’s available”.  Or did we just skip that part and post about it in the blog?  Good thing we follow other sources to know it’s available since we can’t depend on being Platinum members.

Please dear Mattel or Robert-   consider upgrading the screening.  The eyes just look so empty.   I know due to cost saving measures the eyes must be printed and not painted/screened-  but I know the eyes can look better.  Look up "Emerging Rebel Kyori" for example.  Those are sticker eyes too but they are so beautiful and realistic.   I wish Mattel would use a more realistic screening - I would buy so many dolls if they did!20160827img_3776-edit_thumb.jpg?w=533&h=

The email says "articulated silkstone body" but the photos show no articulation?  Was there a mistake in the email or is this an articulated body (joints in elbows and knees)-  so confusing...

I'm underwhelmed.  This is not the style and elegance that I know and love from Silkstone dolls. The doll itself looks like a very blasé stereotypical blonde playline doll with a vapid expression. The dress is cute, I will admit. That I do like, even though its something I would expect from a birthday barbie. I dont expect the vintage esthetic to continue forever. But at least some of the more elegant face molds would have made this doll much more exciting. Sad to say, but I seriously doubt my Silkstone collection will continue of this is the direction the line is going.

I love the look of this doll, and am excited for it to be soon here in Australia. To me it's a return to all Barbie is about, pink 💖

I am going to pass on this one. I see absolutely NOTHING about her that warrants me paying $100. I love Barbie, but this one is boring and uninspiring, and her facial expression even makes her appear bored. I really hope that Barbie Collector will do better as the year progresses because at this point I'm only looking forward to the Inspiring Women, and Halloween Dolls.

Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow........I hope I'm not really disappointed but we shall see.  I think I'll at least be glad to have her either way.  What irks me more is FEDEX.  They are CONSTANTLY putting my packages (Barbies in particular) at someone elses door step in my complex.  The address is correct too.  They are ALWAYS putting them on the wrong floor and don't even get the corresponding number right on the wrong floor LOL.  It's been horrible lately...........good thing I work at home and can watch them like a hawk lol

I just got my doll in the mail and I have to say WOW.  I was expecting the worst from all of the negative comments, and I have to admit the pictures weren't that impressive but WOW.  She is BEAUTIFUL.  I will say this, I think this is one of the best boxes I've seen in a long time.  It is HEAVY!  I wondered why it was so heavy before I opened the packing box.  Apparently it is some type of metal and the front of it opens up.  You have to un-tie the pink bow and it appears to lock in with some sort of magnet.  The back of the box is beautiful as well. I'm SO glad I went ahead and bought this one.  She is great.  If you are doubting.....buy her before she is gone.  I'm just really pleasantly surprised.  Thank you Mattel!!

I honestly don't know what exactly that is supposed to mean........she doesn't have the jointed/articulated body if that is what you mean......but honestly........again I think the box is the best feature on this one......I love it.

From the reviews I've seen, she's a lot better in real life.

Received my doll today. Nice surprise. The package was heavy and I thought it was something else that my husband ordered and was waiting on, but I saw that I was the lucky recipient. Upon opening the shipper, I saw through the tissue wrapping a pretty Barbie pink box. As I carefully unwrapped the item, I discovered the package is amazing. She will definitely stay in the box, at least for now.  It will display nicely on the shelf. IN spite of the negative comments, Including my own, she is quite lovely. I just hope that Mattel reads the comments and will issue these collectable dolls in a couple different skin tones to make all happy.

I feel exactly the same.  I made some negative comments too.  I was really shocked at how amazing she turned out to be.  I think she my favorite in quite some time.

Is anyone having shipping issues with this doll? I ordered it the day it came out with next day shipping and I still have not received it. Every time I track the package Fedex says they are still waiting to receive the package. I have contacted Mattel twice and the first time they said they would call me back and they didnt. I called again today and they said that it is on its way but The tracking is saying other wise. This is really annoying and I am very curious if anyone else is having this issue.

Mine didn't ship until yesterday, 5 days after I ordered. So far there haven't been any updates besides the fact that Fedex has received the package.

I think it's just a problem with mail in general right now.  This has happened to me sometimes too with fed ex UPS, and USPS.  I got this doll very fast but there have been others that floated out there for days before I got them.

Does anybody knows if I can still buy  other collections barbies like water sprite online? I just became platinum member, but I can’t buy anything 😞 even  Barbies with prices...
