Infinitely elegant with just a wink of whimsy, the latest Barbie®-inspired collaboration for adult collectors has arrived – it’s Charlotte Olympia™ Barbie® Doll!
Charlotte Olympia’s founder, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, said, “This was a childhood dream come true to collaborate with Barbie!” And the look on Charlotte’s face when the doll was unveiled at the Mattel Design Center was the highlight of the project for Barbie Specialty Senior Designer Carlyle Neura.
“Her team and the Barbie team had been working together through email for months, so there was a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air when we finally met face to face,” Carlyle revealed. “I think she was really amazed and touched with how we were able to recreate classic pieces from the Charlotte Olympia brand in Barbie scale!”
Those “pieces” are a selection of the British luxury brand’s most recognizable designs. The collection of shoes and clutch bags are watched over joyfully by ‘Bruce’ the leopard, Charlotte Olympia’s mascot.
The doll itself is inspired by old Hollywood glamour, Charlotte Olympia’s feminine design aesthetic, and a bit of nostalgia with the Vintage Barbie facial sculpt. “Charlotte was nostalgic for this face sculpt because it was on the Barbie dolls she remembers playing with as a child,” Carlyle noted. “I think the combination of this classic face sculpt with updated face paint perfectly fits the doll’s overall vibe!”
Looking fabulous in a fitted leopard-print dress with matching jacket, Charlotte Olympia Barbie Doll is also styled with a purr-fectly painted mani-pedi and wears her hair in retro waves. She comes with four clutch bags, four pairs of shoes, sunglasses, gloves, mini-shoebox and dustbag, and a doll-sized replica of a Charlotte Olympia shopping tote (which Bruce can happily hold in his mouth!).
When pressed to choose a favorite accessory, Carlyle demurred, saying, “I can't choose just one accessory as my favorite, they're all so fun to dress on the doll! But I especially love the big spider-web display stand (it's a scaled-up version of the Charlotte Olympia web logo!) that all of the accessories can be displayed on. And of course, the adorable leopard Bruce, which is a mini version of a real statue that sits in Charlotte's retail stores.”
Get the Barbie doll that “captures all of the fun, clever, kitschy aspects of the Charlotte Olympia brand,” as Carlyle described her. The collaboration between these two beloved brands has finally arrived in the online shop!
